Business Development Manager, (Law Firm)

SourcePro Search has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager with our large law firm client. This role will be based from the New York Market and offers a competitive salary and excellent growth potential.  

The Business Development Manager, PDF Americas will work closely with the Senior Business Development Manager and the Business Development Specialist for PDF Americas, as well as the Practice Group Leader, Chief Marketing Officer and partners from PDF and other assigned practice groups and client teams to develop, execute and promote marketing and business development programs for the assigned practice groups and coverage areas. Key objectives are to generate revenues through a focused and coordinated approach to business development activities including profile raising, pitching, client team coverage and industry coverage. The position will also coordinate closely with international colleagues and other marketing team members on global cross-selling efforts, including support for client teams, industry groups and other firm-wide BD efforts and initiatives. This position involves a heavy component of developing pitches and RFP responses. The Manager will have line management responsibility of the Specialist, PDF Americas and will report to the Senior Business Development Manager, PDF Americas.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Business planning and practice development:
  • Supporting practice group’s efforts to develop and implement their business plans and marketing budgets, individual partner plans and targeted business development efforts
  • Developing compelling custom pitches and RFP responses; tracking success rates in the client relationship management database; collaborating with core BD team in advocating best practices
  • Designing and executing new business initiatives for the practices including thought leadership, events, client seminars and/or training programs with communications, core BD and other admin teams and departments
  • Monitoring various marketing publications and other sources for potential opportunities and communicating intelligence gathered to partners on a regular basis
  • Analyzing markets and conducting research into industries, sectors, clients and competition in order to inform strategic planning
  • Preparing all relevant directory submissions; scheduling interview calls; preparing specific talking points; identifying and tracking practice specific awards / submissions
  • Developing and maintaining marketing collateral (brochures, capability presentations, web content) in conjunction with core BD team; ensuring all information is kept up-to-date in the relevant databases
  • Build an Americas BD pipeline for the group to including opportunity spotting and other strategic pursuits
 
Client relationship management:
  • Supporting the various existing client initiatives and lead on developing a client program for a few key PDF Americas core clients
  • Coordinating contact and activity information input into InterAction and other internal and external relationship management tools
 
PR/Communications:
  • Coordinating with the PR/Communications team to identify media opportunities, including speaking and by-lined articles; facilitating publication of articles and other writings
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
 
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
  • Credible understanding of business and legal landscape and how it impacts the firm’s client base

  • Thorough knowledge of MS Suite – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of InterAction (desirable)
 
Education & Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 years in progressively responsible business development roles in legal marketing or other professional services firms
  • Bachelor degree required
  • Significant experience managing pitches, legal directory submissions and the full range of legal marketing and business development services
  • Experience working in an international environment and across time zones
