Location: New York Office (Hybrid Schedule: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM)
Classification: Exempt

What You’ll Do:

As Managing Clerk, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a full-service Docket and Court Services Department supporting both the New York and New Jersey offices. You will provide crucial procedural guidance to attorneys and staff, ensure compliance with court deadlines, and lead all court filing activities.

  • Oversee and manage all docketing operations, court filings, and service processes in State and Federal courts

  • Advise attorneys on procedural rules, strategic filing practices, and changes in court rules

  • Review incoming court documents and accurately calendar all deadlines using Compulaw

  • Manage court filings manually and electronically via PACER, NYSCEF, and other court systems

  • Draft legal documents such as stipulations, notices of entry, appearances, and affidavits of service

  • Supervise Assistant Managing Clerk and delegate assignments appropriately

  • Monitor case activity in Trial, Appellate, and Bankruptcy Courts as well as administrative agencies

  • Maintain attorney e-filing credentials and ensure firm-wide e-filing compliance

  • Coordinate with courts, process servers, and vendors; handle urgent filings and courtesy copy deliveries

  • Train and mentor docketing staff, ensuring accuracy and best practices across all workflows

  • Prepare and publish the firm’s daily litigation calendar and maintain calendaring system updates


What You’ll Bring:

  • JD or Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of experience in docketing and court services within a law firm

  • Deep knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP)New York CPLR, and local court rules

  • Proficiency in calendaring systems such as Compulaw and CourtAlert

  • Experience using online court systems: PACERCourtLinkEtrack, and NYSCEF

  • Skilled in deadline calculation, document review, and procedural compliance across multiple jurisdictions

  • Familiarity with arbitration deadlines and appellate filing procedures

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage teams and high-volume workflow

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail and initiative

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable with database management and reporting

  • Must hold a valid Notary Public license
