Professional Development Coordinator

New York, NY
Under the supervision of the Sr. Manager, Professional development, and working closely with other members of the Professional Development team, the Coordinator, Professional Development (Coordinator) coordinates and implements professional development initiatives for lawyers and business services professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate training programs, conferences, and workshops, including: scheduling, drafting invitations and other communications, attendance tracking, preparing materials, coordination with conference services, catering, technology, etc.
  • Accredit NY, CA, and TX CLE courses and maintain course materials and attendance records as required by CLE rules
  • Update and maintain the firm’s MCLE tracking database, CE Manager
  • Plan associate social and morale events
  • Research best practices for new firm initiatives designed to enhance employee development and retention
  • Assist with the firm’s e-learning related initiatives such as HotShot Legal, Practicing Law Institute (PLI), Rosetta Stone foreign language learning program, and others
  • Build rapport with associates and Business Services personnel
  • Assist with the lawyer performance review process
  • Collaborate with the broader Legal Talent and HR teams on initiatives and projects
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of CE Manager and familiarity with the NY and CA MCLE rules preferred
  • Proactive, Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments while working under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high standard of judgment and discretion
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of professional development or other similar experience in a law firm or professional services organization
